Romantic Night By The Fireplace

I seem to be doing things backwards this winter.
I haven't had the fireplace going all week.
Being not prepared for winter this year,
and being short of fire wood.
I have let the oil do the heating on mild days.

Its evening now,
guess I could light the fireplace.
So here I am by myself,
lighting the fire.
The candle holders on the fireplace need new candles,
replacing and lighting them.

Romantic music,
I only have eyes for you playing in the cd player.
The soft candle light is flickering.
Its snugly warm here by the fire.
I finally have time for romance.

But I'm - by myself ?
How pathetic is that ?

One of these days,
I will get it right and have the lovely lady,
with the romantic setting at the same time.
Well I can only hope.
Wishing and praying doesn't seem to help.
Are you listening God.
I need your help.

I would love some cuddling by the fire,
a pillow is not the same.
The wine doesn't seem to taste as sweet,
when your by yourself either.
Nice Fire.
