There Goes Another Year

Well the summer is gone again
Winter is nearly here
The days are getting shorter
Nights are cold and clear

The trees are all but bare
Fireplace snaps and crackles
There's a crispness in the air
Lawn mower put away
Snow blower now at the ready
As I make the best of each and every day

It's the best time of the year
So some people say
Winter grows ever so near
Snow birds soon will play

Sitting by the fire
With a glass of red wine in hand
Roast some fresh chestnuts
Now that would sure be grand

The fourth of November
Personal anniversary that's no doubt
I take the time to remember
Today the house seems empty
as I move about

I will spend another winter alone
In this big house of mine
Sometimes I feel old
Yes old before my time
